Fun in First Grade

Fun in First Grade!

I had the privilege of interviewing Ingalls 1st grade teacher, Mrs. Pelischek. The elementary teachers' classrooms have been very different this year because of Coronavirus. They have been having to incorporate new things into their classroom.

Mrs. Pelischek has incorporated many interesting things into her classroom this year to keep and make sure the students safe and socially distanced. One of those things being having students split into sitting groups so they are more spaced out. To keep her students engaged during class time, Mrs. Pelischek has created a reward system, fun hand activities with the students during reading and math centers, and allowing the students to write on their desks with dry erase markers during math time.

Mrs. Pelischek has many special activities planned for the rest of the school year. Unfortunately, they have not been able to go on an in-person field trip. However, they are planning on having a virtual field trip to see their 1st grade class cow, Rejoice. The 1st grade class has been able to have parties for special events or birthdays. The class has also been able to do a lot of arts and crafts.

The school year has been amazing from Mrs. Pelischek’s perspective. This school year, her favorite subject to teach is math because of the fun activities they can incorporate into making math more fun to le

arn. She enjoys teaching science and social studies as well. The 1st grade students love doing cool science experiments and learning about the seven continents and five oceans.
